One dollar…  It won’t buy you much anymore.  If you see someone in need and you hand them a dollar, you may have bought them a drink or a candy bar, which is great, but it’s not enough to really change their situation.  But picture this, what if the next day you came back to that same person with a thousand of your friends and you all gave him just one dollar each?  That’s life-changing!  And that’s the vision of the Dollar Club!

So, here’s how it works:  Each person that comes to Burlington Baptist each week is encouraged to give an extra dollar in addition to what they would normally give.  We then take these dollars and give them to a family or individual in need to radically change their situation.

In 6 years since its inception, we’ve collected over $113,000 to help families in and around our community.  These individual dollars have added up to help take care of medical expenses, fix handicap-accessible vans, provide cars to single parents with no transportation, help with mortgage payments for months at a time and the list goes on.

This seemingly simple idea has done so much to ease some of the pain and misfortune people face every day.  And the best part of the dollar club?  The recipients know that there is a group of people in Burlington, Kentucky, that they’ve probably never met, who love them enough to want to help.
