Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication

with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.  Phil. 4:6

I am glad that we have a holiday that reminds us to be thankful.  The Bible instructs us to give thanks in every circumstance.  We give thanks and praise to God for His many blessings and we can even give thanks through the difficulties of life because we know that God can take those difficulties and use them for good in our lives.  Individually, and as a church body, we have so much to be thankful.  God has added many to our church family this year and has been faithful in meeting our many needs.

I am thankful for our Wednesday evening services and just praise God for all the children and students we get to minister to each week.  We get to start with an excellent meal and great time of fellowship together.  I praise God that we have so many who are willing to lead, teach, cook a meal, provide security, watch the nursery, sing in the choir or just help out wherever they are needed.  I never want to take all our workers for granted as it takes so many laborers as we try to instruct these children and students in the Word of God.

I am also thankful for those who teach and lead in the various life groups.  While there are lots of groups that meet on Sunday morning, there are other groups that meet at different times throughout the week.  Jenny and I have loved having the young adults at our house on Tuesday evenings (they have some awesome spiritual conversations and have a zeal for living out their faith).  I appreciate the awesome ladies on the Pastoral Care Council who go visit our shut-ins every other Monday.  I appreciate the many volunteers who help with the monthly food distribution.  I appreciate the ones who go with me to make visits at the hospitals and funeral homes.  I appreciate those who serve in our First Impressions, Safety, and Security teams each week.  I appreciate the generosity of the folks at BBC.  I know various ministries are always asking for food, diapers, coats, toys, and other items, and so many of you frequently open your hands/wallets and provide the resources necessary to provide for the various ministries within the church.

Yes, God has been so good to me and have so much in which to be thankful.  I’m thankful that God saved a self-righteous sinner like me.  I’m thankful God has blessed me with a wonderful wife and two wonderful children.  I’m thankful (and still amazed) that God would allow me to pastor such a wonderful church family like you folks at Burlington Baptist.  I am very often humbled by God’s goodness and I pray that He will continue to move in our church in a mighty way.  He deserves all the praise and thanks for all the good things He has done.

I’d love to invite you to join us for the annual Community Thanksgiving service on Tuesday evening, November 26th at 7:00 PM at Hopeful Lutheran Church (6430 Hopeful Church Rd.).  May God bless you and your family and I pray that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.  May Christ be praised, exalted and shared!!!
