This week, we examine a selection of Scripture that Paul uses to encourage all believers that the path that God has set them on, although at times arduous, is exactly the right place that he intends us to follow. He refers to himself as priest to the Gentiles, although most of those reading this letter would have been intimately aware of his past as a high-ranking Jewish official, and someone who hunted down and persecuted the very people he now aligns himself with.
As we see Paul preparing to close his letter to the Roman churches, he returns to a point he has made throughout the body of the letter. The most important thing that we can do is present an accurate message of the Gospel of Jesus to whatever audience we have the opportunity to minister to. He shifts the attention away from himself and places it fully on the one who grants him his position. This is such an important reminder, especially in times where we feel discouraged, inadequate, or out of place.
We all need to understand the adage, “God equips the called, He doesn’t call the equipped.” He places people in positions for His glory and virtually removes the ability for them to claim any credit. He seems to have very little concern for our comfort or our skill level. He continues to use ordinary believers, like you and me, to accomplish extraordinary things.
