I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.   1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Last week I wrote about my excitement for some of our upcoming events (gospel to every home, outside service, and VBS).  I thought our first night of taking the gospel to every home was going to get rained out and the rain stopped shortly before it was time to go out.  We were able to send out 5 teams of 3 and visit nearly 200 homes.  We had a couple go out Thursday evening and visit 50 homes.  We had 3 ladies go out on Friday and cover 100 homes.  Then, on Saturday morning we had over 30 participants and were able to send out 10 teams.  By the time we were done on Saturday we had visited approximately 930 homes.  When we came back from our visits, we were able to share some of our encounters which is always exciting.  Our team on Saturday was able to minister to a young lady whose mother had passed away on Friday.  We met her in the parking lot and she told us that her mother had wanted her to get in church and she felt like God sent us to her in her time of need.

When we allow God to use us, we are often amazed when we get a glimpse of how He is working around us.  In his book “Experiencing God,” Henry Blackaby wrote, ”God is always at work around us.  He invites us to participate in His work.  God’s invitation to join Him requires faith and obedience.”  We had several people indicate that they didn’t have a church home and several indicated that they would plan on visiting with us at BBC.  Several were interested in bringing their children to VBS.  We are going to be sharing some of our testimonies in the future and we will have lots of more opportunities for you to join us in taking the gospel to our community throughout the summer.

Our outdoor service on Sunday includes another big praise.  The Lord allowed us to get settled under the tent before the rain started coming down.  It rained pretty hard during the service but stopped before the service was over.  We were glad that the praise team set up under the tent instead of outside on the outside of the tent.  We were even glad the yard hadn’t been mowed before Sunday so that we didn’t track grass everywhere after the rain.  We had so many positive responses to the outside service and many have asked us for to have another one (we will work on scheduling one this fall).  Lots of the people we visited with our gospel materials said they would be interested in visiting our outdoor service and we did have lots of visitors on Sunday.  I just want to praise the Lord for allowing us to have the service and for holding off the rain until we got seated under the tent.

Finally, our VBS has gotten off to a great start.  We so appreciate the opportunity to have VBS this year after missing it last year because of COVID.  We are so thankful for so many volunteers and coordinators who provide the manpower to minister to so many children (over 200 different children this week).  Please join us in praying for all of the gospel seeds that have been sown this week through our gospel materials and through our VBS.  Sometimes we sow, sometimes we water, and we know that God gives the growth and brings the harvest.  We can be certain that He will bless our Great Commission efforts and I am so proud of all who are participating in so many different ways.  We had families go out, young adults participate, and the 3 ladies that went out on Friday were all over 74 (WOW)!  To God be the glory!

Sunday afternoon, I will be heading to Nashville for the Southern Baptist Convention.  There is some divisiveness in our convention this year and I would ask you to pray that God will bring us together and allow us to get our focus back on the Great Commission and seeking revival for our churches and our land.  Surely, we can all agree about our need for revival.  Also, we have a members (business) meeting on Sunday evening.  God has been so faithful to our church this year and I want to think Him for adding to our church, allowing us to see 18 baptisms so far in 2021, and His financial provisions.  As a church, we have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to in the future.  To God be all the glory!
