I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Phil.1:3-5
As I mentioned last week, you all blessed me with an amazing 50th birthday celebration and you often encourage me with cards and frequent words and acts of kindness. As such, I’d love to ask you to share some of your encouragements with the staff this month. We are blessed with an awesome staff at BBC. On Sunday, we recognized Joanne Ford for 10 years of service (actually her 10-year anniversary was on Aug. 19th). Joanne is involved in almost every facet of BBC life and is such a valuable member of our staff. I sure appreciate the many behind the scene things that she takes care of on a regular basis.
This week, Jessica Keefe and Jeff Perry had work anniversaries. On Oct. 3rd, Jessica had her 5-year work anniversary. Jessica is our media person and has gone above and beyond in the technology department since COVID hit. Jessica oversees the streaming of our services, what is on the screens on Sundays, sound, social media post, and she edits our podcast. Jessica also works on stage decorations and sets and much more. We appreciate her efforts. Jeff had a 22-year work anniversary on Oct. 4th. Jeff has worn lots of hats at BBC in his 22 years. His main focus has been on students and families. His title has recently been changed to Senior Associate Pastor as he has transitioned out of student ministry and is overseeing senior adult ministries, facilities, first impressions, security, technology, and helping with lots of other pastoral areas. The church should be thankful for Jeff’s long tenure at BBC.
Speaking of long tenures, Bonnie Brown has been working at BBC for over 41 years (as of Sept. 2nd). It’s not very often that somebody celebrates a 40-year work anniversary (at church or in the workplace). Bonnie is our Financial Secretary and is the go to person if anybody has a question about something in the church’s past. Bonnie has seen a little bit of everything in her 40+ years and is such a blessing to work with each day. Beth Claxon has been on staff at BBC since Aug. 17, 2009 and does an awesome job leading our children’s department. Whether it is VBS, kid’s camp, craft fair, KidZRock, or our Sunday morning children’s ministries, we know that it is going to be well organized and done with much love and care. Good children’s ministry leaders are hard to find and we are blessed to have had Beth for these past 12+ years.
Probably the toughest position for most churches to fill is that of Worship Pastor. I frequently hear pastors talking about how hard it is to find a part-time worship leader. BBC is blessed to have Danny Delph. Danny had his 4th year work anniversary on March 1st. Danny does a great job of leading the praise team and is always ready when needed. Danny and I have had lots of fun on our Two by Two podcast that we started last year. Jonathan Brewster is the newest staff member at BBC as he started at the end of November 2020. Jonathan and Sarah have done a fantastic job ministering to our young adults and college age students. Jonathan has recently transitioned into the Student ministry and is working to grow and raise up future leaders at BBC.
We are also blessed with Judy Clore and Eloise Widener in the office. They are both wonderful to work with and always willing to roll up their sleeves and help wherever there is a need. You have probably noticed that the staff is excellent in helping each other be successful in their ministry area. You will see the staff serving the seniors, helping with candy on the corner, leading an Upward devotional, and taking the gospel to every home. I feel blessed to work with the staff at Burlington Baptist and want to express my appreciation to each of them. Maybe you can take a little time this month and send a few cards and write a few notes of encouragement. Thank you for your love and support! It is an honor to serve our Lord with you!
