Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. Proverb 16:3
This summer is flying by and these hot days often make us look forward to the cooler days of fall. We are making plans for fall. We will have a Back to School block party on Saturday, Aug. 27th. We have some extra special activities scheduled for this date (petting zoo, cornhole tournament, Mario Kart tournament, face painting, firetrucks and more). Our Wednesday evening meals and children’s programs will resume on Wednesday September 7th. We are in need of a chief chef for our Wednesday evening meals. If you know somebody who might be willing to take the lead (we have plenty of helpers) please let us know.
We had a meeting last night to talk about the choir. Covid was the death blow to many church choirs. However, we want to get our adult choir going again this fall. Our plan is to start practicing on Wednesday, September 7th. Elise DeRuby and Mark Maynard will be leading our choir efforts. Elise is a middle school choir teacher who has been coming to BBC for a little over a year and is helping with our media. Mark and his wife Beth joined BBC in July and he has worked with a choir at his former church for the past 30 years. They are excited about getting the choir started back. We are so thankful for the many years that Sandy Scroggin lead our choir and she has already been helping Elise and Mark with resources and input. We could use an accompanist if you know of somebody with that skill, please let us know.
I would like to provide some discipleship courses on Sunday evenings in the fall and spring. We would like to provide some 6-10 week studies on subjects like Spiritual Gifts, Basic Christian Doctrines, Church History, Eschatology (end times), Apologetics and Spiritual Disciplines. We will plan on offering a study on Spiritual Gifts on Sunday evenings starting in September. Additionally, we want to have some specific prayer time each Wednesday evening. We would like to do some instructions on prayer and then spend time in prayer.
We have a fall revival scheduled for Sept. 25-28 with Bro. Randy McPheron. Bro. Randy is an evangelist and Associational Mission Strategist in Rockcastle County. He is one of my favorite preachers and I look forward to seeing how the Lord might use him at BBC. Please start praying for our time of revival. We had a tremendous turnout for our revival last year and I hope you will make plans to join us this year. We will kick off our revival with a tent service on Sept. 25th.
We are planning to take teams to western Kentucky in August and September. We are thankful for the teams who have gone out to western Kentucky and helped with projects this summer. We would love for you to participate in one of these mission trips. We are still working on a fall trip out to Morgan, Utah to work with Morgan Grace Church.
We are always open to suggestions as to how we can better reach and minister to our community and how we can most effectively make disciples and grow as disciples of Jesus. We have some excellent Bible study groups and would love to help you find a group that would help you grow in your faith. We have several ministry opportunities in our First Impressions, Coffee, Security, and Upward Sports areas. If you are interested in finding a place to serve, please let us know. May God grow us spiritually and physically as we seek to serve and make Him known!
Bro. Harold
